Week 61 of our 78-week humanitarian mission to Slovakia and Poland is in the books.
“It’s easier to take than to give. It’s nobler to give than to take. The thrill of taking lasts a day. The thrill of giving lasts a lifetime." - Joan Marques.
Slovakia fact of the week . . . Slovakia is one of the newest countries in the world. Slovakia was established as an independent nation on January 1, 1993 when Czechoslovakia split into the two nations, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. After a peaceable separation with the Austrian Hungarian empire in 1918, Slovakia and Czech Republic were known as Czechoslovakia. The beginning of World War II ruined a planned vote for Slovakian independence in 1939.
This was one of only two or three weeks since we arrived in Slovakia in which we did not have an in-person humanitarian meeting. It was a week of paperwork for me and for Kelly a week of outfitting a new missionary apartment, which is a big job, and getting an existing apartment ready for sister missionaries who will arrive in a few days.
We will be on the road again in the coming week working in both Slovakia and Poland.
It is far too long a story for this blog but my life changed forever when I met Kelly on my 19th birthday. I truly believe that everything good in my life is a result of her influence in my life.
I thought for a change of pace this this week I would share a few photos from the past year of my mission companion. Kelly may not think this is such a good idea, but in this case I may need to ask for forgiveness rather than permission. :)
We pray you are well and that you will have a wonderful week.
